About

Kaushal Chapagain specializes in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), water security assessment, the water-energy-food nexus, and the impacts of climate and land use change on resources. He holds a Doctor of Engineering in Water Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, and currently works as research specialist at the Centre for Water and Climate Adaptation (CWCA). He is the scientific coordinator at AIT for the DAAD-funded Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre (ABCD-Centre) project.

He co-developed the Water Security Assessment Tool (WATSAT) and has conducted training workshops for diverse stakeholders. He also served as a visiting scholar at The United Nations University Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES) as one of the first recipients of Future Environmental Leadership Scholarship (FELS) of the ABCD-Centre. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, co-edited a book, mentored master's and PhD students, conducted training workshops and presented at international water conferences.

Currently, he is the Vice-Chair at the International Water Association - Young Water Professionals Nepal Chapter (YWP Nepal). He is also an active member of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA).
